JEREMIAH'S DEDICATION

Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

Nick and Becca had Jeremiah dedicated this past Sunday at church.  Our extended family (Nicks parents, brothers, sister and sister in law; Scott, Ben, Scott's parents and I) took up an entire pew!  How awesome is that!  The witness of a believing family in addition to the family of God that is our church.

The above scripture came to mind during the dedication.  Scott and I strived as parents to instill a knowledge of the Bible and God into both of our children. I know that Nick's parents did the same.  We can "train them up" with Bible knowledge and knowledge of God,  but ultimately God has to grab them by the hand and show them His love as their Heavenly Father.  He commissioned us as parents when he gifted us with their lives to show them the way, put them on the path.

I know in my family the Godly roots extend many generations  back.  My Granny Taylor was one of the most Godly women I have ever met.  She could not read, yet she could quote you the Bible verse by verse.  She would have her children read it out loud to her - for their benefit and for hers.  If she met a stranger in her travels she would always ask them if they knew Jesus.  Bold was her faith.

So fast forward to present day and now our grandchild, which would have been my grandmother's great-great grandson is being brought up in a Godly home as well.  Let us pray that with the roots he has from both of his parents, as well as their training of him, and with the guidance of both sets of grandparents, as well as the guidance of our church family Jeremiah will not depart from those roots.
